Ross Kimes
Ross and his wife live in Norman, Oklahoma. They’ve been married for three years and are expecting their first little boy at the end of June.
Ross works as an iOS developer at Weather Decision Technologies. The two main apps he helps develop are RadarScope (which was recently featured by Apple in a TV commercial) and Weather Radio.
Here’s what Ross wrote in to say about The Focus Course:
Without any hyperbole, I can honestly say that taking The Focus Course has been life changing. A typical day for me looks a lot different now than it did 6 weeks ago when I started the course.
I’ve had goals in the back of my head that I knew I wanted to accomplish. These included getting up earlier to do Bible reading, workout, and breakfast; spending more intentional time with my wife; knocking out debt; and doing more of my own projects. I was able to accomplish some of these before the course (mainly time with my wife and debt).
But living a healthier lifestyle and daily Bible time always seemed to elude me. I think the main factor here was having the discipline to get up earlier before work and do it. Your ideas of setting clothes out the night before as a small way of showing commitment to yourself was a great illustration for me. The other thing that really clicked was your constant encouragement to not to try to do everything all at once.
Over the course of two weeks, I started waking up earlier and earlier. Then, once I was waking up early enough, I added in my Bible reading. Once I got even earlier, I added jogging/going to the gym. And then finally I added journaling to my mourning routine.
I have wanted to have this exact morning routine since getting married three years ago, but I was never able to make it stick until taking this course. Breaking the goals down from the large timescales all the way to a single day really drove home the importance of starting small and being consistent.
There are still goals/daily habits in some of the other life areas that I want to work toward, but I know now that I have a blueprint that will work.
Thank you, Shawn. I have been encouraging all of my close friends to get the course.
